Superintendent’s Message, August 2020

2020欧冠赛程图 The beginning of each school year is typically filled with excitement and butterflies, maybe even a little bit of nerves, but I acknowledge that this school year will come with more mixed emotions than ever before. Families have had to make tough choices in deciding how their child will return to learning along with balancing work schedules, health and safety guidelines, and much uncertainty. While there are still so many questions and unknowns, the one thing we do know is that we are in this together.

Here is how we are helping to support you and your family as we transition into the 2020-2021 school year:

  • It is important to us that we address the socio-emotional needs of your child as they return to school. For many students, the events of the past few months have been hard, to say the least, if not downright traumatic for some. Throughout distance learning, they will receive emotional support and connection with their instructor and peers in a safe space to share their feelings and emotions. At RCSD, we’re a family and we’re in this together.
  • The Roseville City School District Foundation has introduced Digital Days, a free, weekly, live YouTube broadcast geared to offer RCSD students an opportunity to learn something new outside of regular course work. Each Thursday at 4 PM, your student can tune in to learn coding, fitness, science, cooking, and more. Our hope is to connect students with a creative outlet and engage them in new ways to uncover a passion or interest that inspires them. Subscribe to Digital Days on YouTube!
  • Our Nutrition Department will continue to offer healthy meals to all RCSD students, even during distance learning. We believe all children deserve access to nutrition and consistent meals, so please reach out to your school site to get details on how and when meals can be picked up for your child.
  • Our administrators are committed to providing the most up-to-date COVID-19 information as we fluidly move through this ever-changing crisis. We will communicate new guidelines, adjust accordingly to rising or falling case rates, and ask for your flexibility and grace as we tackle any future challenges together. Throughout the year, we ask for your vigilance in checking your email and the RCSD Facebook page for important announcements. For the most updated information, visit http://cordonblues.com/

2020欧冠赛程图 We may not know what the future holds this school year and beyond, but we know that we’re better together. We look forward to re-engaging with our students, building relationships, and providing a sense of safety so that we can get back to learning, making memories, and seeing the smiles that drive us to do better and better each day.

Your partner in education,

Superintendent’s Message
July 2020

2020欧冠赛程图 A few months back, we had no idea the impact COVID-19 would have on our day-to-day lives.  We didn’t know the extent of the burdens that our families would face, and we could not have predicted the toll it would take on our staff, as they transitioned their classrooms and workspaces in a matter of days. Our entire school community of teachers, parents, staff, and of course, students, should be commended for their flexibility and understanding that much of what is happening is out of our immediate control.

June 2020

As I write this article with two weeks left in the school year, we are living in a time that will look much different from when you’re reading it. What will school look like next year, based on future guidelines from the State of California? Are we moving closer to transitioning into Phase 3? What does our District budget look like in the year ahead? Have our children gone stir crazy-(er)? Our District doesn’t pretend to have all the answers, but here’s what we do know:

May 2020 Teacher Appreciation Month

2020欧冠赛程图 One of the more uplifting messages I’ve been hearing lately is about silver linings. For many, if not most of us, the past couple of months have been the strangest experiences of our lives. At the District, we’re implementing systems and routines, and one thing is for certain – our staff has the mindset that shows we are ready to meet this “new abnormal” straight on!

To our community, families, students, and staff, as I write this article in the middle of March, our schools are closed through April 13, 2020, in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. We are all living with uncertainty, and because of that, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. We will continue to convey important information on our website, so make sure to bookmark cordonblues.com for the most up-to-date information.

Like a well-oiled machine, it takes many moving parts to make a school district effective and successful. A vital component of the Roseville City School District machine are our programs and distinctions. These factors elevate the education and curriculum we offer at our 19 RCSD schools by providing the tools that serve the whole child.

A New Year and a New Decade is on the Way!

And just like that, we find ourselves at the close of the decade. With 2020 on the horizon, you’d think I’d become nostalgic over the last ten years. You’re not wrong – in fact, I’ve become nostalgic over the last 150 years as we celebrate the District’s sesquicentennial all year long. However, the future looks so bright that I can’t help but keep looking forward to the goals, milestones, and growth at our fingertips.

Growing our Minds…But How?

Education is what I am immersed in every day. Each day, I work with educators who are determined to help students reach their potential. We read the data, analyze results and grow from what we learn. What if I told you there is a mindset we can each adopt that helps every single one of us, as parents, community members, and #RCSDChampions?

Back to School!

2020欧冠赛程图 August is when we all head back to school and begin reminiscing about what did over the several weeks of summer break. I’d like to share what our District did over the summer!

Perhaps most noteworthy, we began summer by breaking ground on our 20th school, Riego Creek, located near Crawford Parkway and Fiddyment Road. We were joined by our board of education trustees, District staff, city council members and our construction team, all of whom took part in shoveling the first mounds of dirt!

2020欧冠赛程图 Summer fever has hit our house and between movie nights, blasting music and video game tournaments, it can be challenging to really connect (and disconnect!) with my boys. I hear parents lament about this frequently: How do you get your kids to unplug from their devices and focus on the human interaction that helps develop their social skills, emotional intelligence, and kindness? Well, I have a few tricks my up sleeve!

Time to Wrap it Up!

The end of each school year traditionally is a time to reflect over the many goals and milestones we accomplished this year. We usually scratch our heads and think—”Where did the year go!?” While we take a look back, we are also looking forward to new opportunities and ways to grow that will allow us to prepare our students to succeed. I’d like to share with you why I believe why this school year shaped up to be one of the most productive and memorable for me as your superintendent.

2020欧冠赛程图 It’s one thing to talk the talk, but it’s a whole ‘nother ball game to walk the walk. So, when Roseville City School District says that we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence in education, we work to put those words into action. Our ultimate goal is to maximize learning for each and every one of our students.  Additionally, we strive for all of our children to be proficient in Common Core State Standards and to progress towards college and career readiness.

2020欧冠赛程图 Each year, many of us create lists: things we’d like to change, improve or focus on in our lives.

2020欧冠赛程图 But what about creating a list that takes stock of what we love about our lives and communities? Things that make us who and what we are. This year, I’d like to list a few things I appreciate most about Roseville City School District:

Our staff. They bring their best to the classroom each day, investing time, energy and genuine care into their students. Their commitment to academic excellence raises the bar with each passing year.

January, 2019

A new year signifies a blank slate and an opportunity to start fresh with goals. While most feel a renewed sense of purpose with a new calendar year, those of us in education acknowledge our year really starts with the school year. January is the time when both of those calendars come together. As we welcome 2019, our district is already preparing for the 2019 – 2020 school year. Yes, that’s right! It’s time to enroll new, returning and transferring students.
